I just read/listened to the story of The Happy Prince, and it made me cry :[ lol.

Which is either testament to how good the fairytale still is and/or how much of a kid I still am lol.

Sad stories = love.

Ah I now have two favourites, The Brave Tin Soldier and that one x]

I first read this story in an 1925 school textbook I had found in a garage sale, when I was in high school….was so enchanted and moved by the tale; in my senior year in speech class, we were assigned to ‘retell’ a story, so I brought my book along and told the story to my class. I have never forgotten looking up at the end to see my teacher with tears in her eyes; she said it was the most beautiful story she had ever heard..I just found the book again today, and researched the illustrator, Frederick Richardson ( Wizard of Oz ); the picture he
drew for the story is so charming.
Am going to look for one of these newer editions to read to my granddaughter. 🙂 it is sad but at the same time beautiful story……
